Western Meadowlark in National Bison Range

When I was studying maps and websites, to be prepared for places we may want to stop, I saw National Bison Range to the west of Highway 93. For some reason, I didn’t pay much attention to it at that time. Driving south from Flathead Lake on the Flathead Reservation, the sign appeared and we turned in that direction without another thought. The drive to the Bison Range was through a wetland bird refuge. We didn’t stop there. This guy was within the Bison Range and an exciting discovery. He or she stayed around long enough to get this shot. We moved on, looking for buffalo, antelope and mountain sheep – found them all before we headed back to Highway 93. By that time, we decided we would forgo the bird refuge. It was time for a late lunch, which we found several miles further south. 47°20'11" N 114°13'24" W
