Wild Horses Traveling on the Beach

Father's Day Weekend - Hungry and headed to Corolla for a breakfast, we headed south down the beach. There they were. A few horses were plodding along the water edge.

The 2012 trip started early on Saturday June 23, returning on Wednesday June 27. We drove to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, where a Holiday Inn Express was our base of operation. From there, we traveled south to Ocracoke Island and north to the Virginia State Line. The last several miles of the northern trip were on the beach in a Jeep we rented from a dealership at Kill Devil Hill. There would be no way to make that part of the trip without 4-wheel drive. We made that part of the trip to photograph wild horses in the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge.
